Wine club

The Galić family has been creating and living with wine for generations. Vineyards and wine have always been part of their lives. Josip's grandfather Rudolf still had 300 vines in Mamići in Herzegovina, which was extremely high for that region.  

Back in 1970, Josip's father Stjepan and mother Anica bought their first vineyard on the slopes of Požeška Gora, and six years later a hectare of the famous "Lerman's vineyard" near the chapel of St. Vida above Požega. They cultivated that vineyard for their own pleasure and produced around 10,000 liters, while Josip Galić helped the family at the age of just seven and imbibed his love for viticulture and winemaking. 

Over time, he moved into other entrepreneurial fields, but his love for wine remained. At the same time, viticulture was already developing seriously in this area and Josip Galić decided to do something for his hometown.

With his effort and work, enthusiasm and love for everything he does, he created the most modern winery in this region. In Kutjevo, the capital of Graševina, a 3,300m2 winery was built, synonymous with work and creation.

Winery Galić is located in Kutjevo, in Vallis Aurea, the cradle of Croatian winemaking and winemaking. As long ago as 1232, the Cistercians built an abbey and a wine cellar here. Although many famous and award-winning Croatian winemakers live and work in Vallis Aurea today, the area is still undeveloped, so every positive impulse is significant not only for the local community but also for the wider community. The construction of the winery fulfills the basic conditions for: development of new technologies in wine production, increasing the capacity of existing vineyards, modernization of existing presentation techniques, etc., all for the purpose of establishing new standards related to wine tourism and industry. The goal is to act more broadly and be the driving force behind the revitalization of this area.

Every harvest, every vineyard, every idea is a new beginning, a new search for higher quality margins. as Marquis Piero said: "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never suppressed our innovative spirit". Investments in other areas suitable for the production of quality wines in Croatia were added to their winery in Kutjevo, which today is part of the family's historical heritage. Josip Galić expresses his passion for viticulture by looking for ever more subtle areas for improvement. For this reason, they conduct continuous experiments in vineyards and cellars with selections of autochthonous grape clones. 

Wine always has its hidden sides, mystical points and a whole microcosm of taste. Like the Galić winery, no matter how many times you visit it, you will always discover something new and unexpected. That's how special they are. And as they say from the winery itself when satisfied visitors send you home: when you are part of something special, then you are also special. Cheers!

Josip Galić has an incredible passion for viticulture and, when it comes to wine quality, he does not agree to any compromises. For the Galić family, winemaking and viticulture is not a job, it is their heritage.
